Should you pay for Meta One? Let's compare it to other AI Platforms so you can decide!
You open Instagram to post one thing, and there's a new button asking for AUD 5.49 a month! 🫣 2 taps later, you are reading about Core, Premium, Essential, Advanced, Expert and Max, and you still have no idea which one is for you, or whether any of them are. 👀
Meta One is the new subscription from Meta, and it is optional. The free apps stay free. What matters for your business is what it includes, how it stacks up against the AI tools you already pay for, and which plan (if any) earns its place. Let's uncomplify it.

What is Meta One?
Meta One is a paid subscription from Meta that adds more AI usage, extra features and professional tools to Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Meta AI. It launched on 15 September 2026 with more than 50 features, and Meta says it has already passed 15 million subscriptions and trials.
The core experience across the apps and Meta AI stays free. You pay for extras: more image and video generation, more ways to personalise your profile and chats, and tools for creators and businesses such as verification, scheduling and customer reply support. Meta also plans to extend Meta One to Edits and AI glasses over time. 👀
How much does Meta One cost in Australia?
Meta One plans start at AUD 3.99 a month for WhatsApp Plus and climb to AUD 769 a month for the Max business tier. Meta's US prices run from USD 2.99 to USD 499, and the Expert, Max and business tiers are listed as starting prices.

Is Meta One an AI tool like ChatGPT or Claude?
Meta One is a subscription layer on top of Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Meta AI. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are standalone AI assistants you open to write, research, analyse and build. They do different jobs.
Meta AI stays free for everyday use. The paid Core and Premium plans give you more room for compute-heavy tasks, meaning more image and video generation with Meta's Muse models and more use of in-app tools like Restyle on Instagram.
So Meta One sits inside the apps where your customers already scroll. The assistants you use for your emails, blog posts, strategy and spreadsheets live somewhere else. One does not replace the other.
Meta One vs ChatGPT vs Claude vs Gemini: how do they compare?
The standard paid plan for ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini sits at about USD 20 a month. Meta One's individual bundle sits at USD 7.99 and its business plans start at USD 14.99, but it works inside Meta's apps rather than as a general assistant.
Platform | Entry paid plan (USD per month) | Standard plan (USD per month) | Power tiers (USD per month) | Where you use it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Meta One | Single app plans from 2.99 | Core 7.99, Premium 19.99 | Business plans from 14.99 up to 499 | Inside Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Meta AI |
ChatGPT | Go 8 | Plus 20 | Pro 100 or 200 | ChatGPT app and web |
Claude | None | Pro 20 (17 on annual billing) | Max from 100 (5x or 20x Pro usage) | Claude app, web, desktop and Claude in Chrome |
Gemini | Google AI Plus 4.99 | Google AI Pro 19.99 | Google AI Ultra 99.99 or 199.99 | Gemini app, plus Google apps and storage |
What each one is built for:
Meta One: more AI images and video, Restyle, voice effects, profile tools and customer reply support inside the apps your audience already uses.
ChatGPT: a general assistant with image creation, deep research, projects and scheduled tasks on its paid plans.
Claude: a general assistant with projects, plus Docs, Slides and Design, Claude in Chrome and Microsoft 365, and Claude Code on Pro and above.
Gemini: a general assistant tied to the Google ecosystem, with video generation, Deep Research and storage included, and YouTube Premium Lite on AI Pro.
Prices are US dollars as published or reported in August to October 2026 and they change often. These are US dollars, so an exchange rate applies for your currency. Check each platform before you buy. ChatGPT figures come from third party pricing guides because its own page did not show prices when I checked.
Which Meta One plan does your business need?
Most businesses can start with the free apps and test Essential ONLY if customer messages are piling up. The higher tiers are built for teams who publish at volume.
Essential (from USD 14.99, AUD 22.99): a verified badge, impersonation protection, a verified channel on the WhatsApp Business app (all pending successful verification), an enhanced profile, and more access to Meta Business Agent so customers get replies day and night.
Advanced (from USD 49.99, AUD 76.99): scheduling Stories up to 30 days ahead, links in organic posts and Reels, exportable analytics, deeper audience insights, and team access without sharing your password. That's 8 Facebook link posts, 4 Instagram posts and 4 Reels with links each month. That's 8 Facebook link posts, 4 Instagram posts and 4 Reels with links each month.
Expert (from USD 149) and Max (from USD 499): the highest feature access and Meta Business Agent capacity, for teams managing at scale.
Two things to check before you pay: Meta's announcement says each tier gets more Meta Business Agent responses than the one below it, but it doesn't publish the numbers, so ask what your tier covers. And Meta Verified has been sold as its own subscription, so look for overlap with Essential before you pay for both.
Does Meta One lift Facebook's 2 link limit?
Yes, on the paid business tiers. Facebook is limiting some Pages and Professional Mode profiles to 2 posts or comments with links per month, and these plans lift that. Here's what each one allows per month:
Advanced (from US$49.99): 8 Facebook posts or comments with links, plus up to 4 Instagram posts and 4 Reels with links.
Expert (from US$149): 20 Facebook posts or comments with links, plus up to 8 Instagram posts and 8 Reels with links.
Max (from US$499): unlimited on Facebook, plus up to 12 Instagram posts and 12 Reels with links.
The rollout is gradual and Meta says the limit may not apply to every Page, so check what you see on yours. Links in ads aren't limited, so if you only need a few more links, compare the cost with a month of ads.
Will Meta One help my posts get seen?
Meta's announcement does not say that paying changes your organic reach. What it lists is tools: an enhanced profile showing your website, locations and what people say about you, a bold follow button on your Reels, and follow invitations sent automatically to people who engage with your content.
Those are useful finishing touches. Visibility still comes from a clear message and content that answers the questions your ideal client is already typing into Google and asking AI tools. When you get that right, tools like these have something worth amplifying.
So spend your first hour on the message, and your first dollar after that.
Is Meta One worth it for my business?
Meta One is worth it when it removes a task you already do every week. If it only adds features you will never open, keep the free version.
If this sounds like you | Your next move |
|---|---|
You post on Instagram and Facebook and the free tools cover it | Stay on the free apps |
You answer the same WhatsApp questions all day | Trial Essential and check the Meta Business Agent replies |
You want to schedule Stories 30 days ahead, add links to posts and export analytics | Look at Advanced |
You want more AI images and video inside Instagram | Look at Core |
You need help with emails, blogs, research and strategy | Pick one general assistant such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini and learn it well |
The assistant you open every day beats the one with the longest feature list. Pick one, get good at it, and add Meta One only where it saves you time.
